Helga Richter - Write your character’s background story (Minimum 200 words):
Nessa war born to an Irish mother and a father of Irish descent in the Broker district of Liberty City. The borough was not an easy place to grow up in, being a wild mix of high crime areas and middle class housing. Her family was stuck somewhere in the middle. Her father worked as a delivery driver and being born in the USA he did not hide is pride and patriotism. Her mother, being born in Ireland and having talked to her father online which made her grow to the idea to moving to the states, mostly worked small jobs as she focused on raising their daughter. Needless to say in an expensive city like LC, their shared income was enough to keep them afloat but not to afford any real luxuries. Growing up while gracing on the poverty line was not easy for Nessa. Instead of toys or expensive consoles, she had to find her own fun which was done on the streets for children like her. After school she's roam the streets of the city, there usually always being something to see and explore around the alleys an dock for her and her friends. Given that, witnessing crime was not something rare. In a way it made her numb but also gave her a distaste in living in the big city. The carelessness was just a coping mechanism.
The years of that hardened her in a strange way, although at the cost of being able to express emotions to others well. So many years without a clear path left her grasping though. She knew she needed to get out so when the military advertised their recruiting program she knew that she had to. Her father was all behind the idea, loving that her daughter would go fight for the country he valued so much while her mother had her understandable worries. To her, it did not matter at that point anymore. She needed to get out... and so she did. She joined the Marines in hope of being taken far from the city and her wish was granted.
After basic training, the first conflict she was taken to was the Iraq war. Out there, she flourished. The carelessness helped her to bear the many stressful situations, even if they slowly chipped away at her more and more which would hold true for most of the conflicts she was in. She visited home only periodically. Every time she did it boiled up bad memories so she was never gone for too long, always wanting to ship out to where her skills mattered. Skills that were soon recognized as she slowly climbed the ranks.
A few years of service later and she was invited for a special forces try out. She would be going back home, back the the states to go through the initial phase but to not attempt it would have been foolish, so she did. The training was absolute hell but it forged her into something stronger, something that her command was looking for and as they did, she passed. It was everything she could ever wish for. In the training alone they were sent all over the world to locations and facilities in all sorts of climates and locations. Her service quickly took over her life as the US entered more and more conflicts all over the world. Her unit was involved in many of them to the point where it never got boring. Whether it be protecting politicians, counter terrorism or helping uphold the internal security of countries... they were involved and would be for the next following years.
