Celerino Peres (only) - Write your character’s background story (Minimum 200 words):
Celerino Peres is a 21-year-old Hispanic teenager, born and raised in the outskirts of La Puerta, an area dominated by violent street gangs like the West Side Longos 13. The region is also plagued by drug trafficking, and despite the beachscape attracting tourists' attention, the neighborhood has its own underworld consisting of prostitutes and children being lured into a life of crime. Despite being influenced, Celerino did not succumb to temptation, and that's thanks to the life example set by his father: Miguel C. Peres, who was a deputy with the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, stationed at the Davis precinct, and who died in a shootout in 2012 on Brouge Avenue. From that moment on, his unemployed mother raised Celerino Peres with his grandmother in a very cramped flat on Ginger Street, where he currently lives.
During high school, Celerino Peres presented himself as a cheerful teenager, trying to maintain friendly relationships with everyone, even with the football team colleagues who constantly mistreated him. The reality was that he masked his feelings in that environment because school was a distraction from the absence of his father. When he came home, the feeling of emotional emptiness and even financial problems made him doubt the existence of God. That's why Celerino Peres had to become an adult before his time, starting to work at the age of sixteen as a clerk at the Limited Ltda gas station in Little Seoul. Working at such a young age brought complications in school because his grades started to decline, and he was close to failing, but he managed to turn things around at the last minute and graduate high school after quitting his job at the gas station.
Peres had a best friend, his name was Daniel B. Melayo, they were the same age and grew up together in the neighborhood, but a tragic incident occurred on September 9, 2020, when a rival gang from the West Side Longos 13 conducted a drive-by shooting in La Puerta and ended up hitting Daniel Melayo in the chest, resulting in his death at the scene. This traumatic event marked Peres's life, and he was determined to achieve financial independence and leave the neighborhood where he grew up. It was from that moment that he focused on school and achieved excellent grades, graduating from high school, but still couldn't get into college. His mother, Celina Peres, is a domestic worker and works practically all day to support the family. This is the current scenario: a family living on the poverty line, surviving little by little and dealing with the overwhelming violence propagated by the neighborhood. Currently, Celerino is unemployed and studying to try to pursue a career in the public sector, seeing it as an opportunity due to the benefits like a reasonable salary and health insurance.
