Iris Johannason was born and raised in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida. From a young age, her inquisitive mind and natural curiosity set her apart. Growing up in a close-knit family, Iris was encouraged to pursue her interests and develop her love for science and medicine. Her parents, Emily and Robert Smith, played influential roles in shaping her character.
Growing up, Iris excelled in school, constantly at the top of her class, though, what she had in brains she lost when it came to interacting with others. She didn't have many friends, though she never minded. Elementary, middle, and high school were all relatively the same for her. She really sprouted when it was time to attend the University of Miami. Deciding on her major was easy, she had a passion for the truth, and for sciences, and forensic medicine just made sense. Three years into her schooling, Iris met James Johannason, the two quickly hit it off and got married within a few months, they were happy. James was supportive of all of Iris's endeavors, often driving her to testing spots, and taking her to and from internships and residency locations. The two were close, doing everything together.
James was a key part in securing her position as assistant medical examiner once she graduated. He pushed her, constantly encouraging her to be the best she could be. She rose the ranks rather quickly during her time in the Miami-Dade Medical Examiners Office, being promoted to Deputy Medical Examiner within 3 short years. Everything in her life was perfect.
In late 2020, James began not feeling well. Several doctors visits later and it was discovered he had end stage pancreatic cancer. He was given 6 months. Iris was devastated, her focus quickly became her husband and his health, she did everything for him, took him to the best doctors, but it was too late. Four and a half months later, James passed. This sent Iris into a deep depression. She stopped caring about everything, her job, being around the dead, was too painful so she found it appropriate to cut ties. They understood, of course, her whole world was just destroyed.
Iris stayed in this dark place for a while, but she slowly started healing. Summer 2023 she packed everything up and made the impulse decision to move to Los Santos. It was somewhere new, where she knew no one and could have a fresh start.
