ABOUT THE JOB POSITION

Coroner Investigators investigate and report death cases which fall within the jurisdiction of the Los Santos Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Incumbents in this position take charge of the death scene and the body of the deceased, safeguard the personal property of the deceased, locate and notify the next of kin and conduct other duties as required. In addition to examining bodies and crime scenes, this role aims to complete various administrative tasks when working as one, keeping accurate records of the findings and presenting those findings to a court when necessary. This job requires excellent communication and writing skills. Furthermore, if one individual is the lead member of a team for the morgue, they may also supervise the work of morgue assistants or autopsy technicians.

The Los Santos Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner works hard alongside Law Enforcement Officers to collect evidence when present on the scene of a crime that has led to the death of either a single individual or multiple. We make sure that no tampering of evidence takes place when a corpse is present on scene and treat it with care.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. The applicant must have attained the age of twenty-four (24) years;
2. Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field;
3. The applicant must have a legal address in the State of San Andreas;
4. The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor;

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1. Working knowledge of applicable laws and statutes governing forensic services;
2. Exceptional analytical and research skills;
3. Experience using lab testing equipment;
4. Excellent communication and writing skills;

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receives reports of death and determines if they are within the jurisdiction of LSDMEC;
2. Investigates deaths coming under the jurisdiction of LSDMEC;
3. Assists in establishing cause, manner and circumstances of death;
4. Confers with law enforcement agencies to coordinate investigations of death resulting from criminal acts;
5. Makes positive identification of the deceased and may take fingerprints and photographs for identification and case file purposes;
6. May notify family of the deceased;
7. Interviews witnesses, physicians, police officers and family members to obtain facts concerning deaths;.
8. Responsible for an may assist in the removal of the deceased;
9. May work on special projects as assigned;
10. Fills in death certificates and decides when decedents may be released;

METHOD OF SELECTION

STEP I. PRELIMINARY JOB APPLICATION — This is the first step in applying for a job as a Deputy Medical Examiner for the City of Los Santos. STEP III. JOB INTERVIEW — You will be invited to a formal interview with one of our recruitment officials. Before attending the interview, it is highly recommended to study the job vacancy thoroughly as it is considered to be a good preparation for the interview.

STEP IV. WRITTEN EXAM — You will be given a written exam and expected to obtain at least 80/100 points.

STEP IV. INDCUTION —The induction process for new employees is a combination of training and on-the-job learning. During the induction period, new employees will be introduced to the department's mission, values, policies and procedures. They may also receive training on the specific duties and responsibilities related to their role.
