Octavia Geralds - Write your character’s background story (Minimum 200 words):
This is the story of Octavia Asta Geralds. Born July 21st 1998 in Asla, Norway. Her parents were Ingrid and Oskar Gerlads. She was an only child up until her mother became pregnant when she was 11. They were about due to have their child when she miscarried. It would have been a baby brother to Octavia. The reason thought behind the miscarriage was thought to be some sort of abuse from Oskar. Up until this moment Octavia was able to attend normal school and able to excel in most things, except math. She seemed to be a shy child and had a small social group. Her family life seemed to be similar. Broken by her fathers abuse and the mother allowing the abuse. Once the miscarriage happened, about a year later, the family moved to Oslo. They found a smaller home in the countryside with a few smaller homes near. Octavia was excited for the new start but was soon to find out it wasn’t a good start for her. Once she arrived in Oslo with her family things changed drastically. She was no longer attending school. Her mom was homeschooling her, when she was able to, and her father was gone most of the time doing some new sort of “businessâ€. Not too long after moving, Octavia's 13th birthday was arriving. Her mom made her a blotkake, also known as a cream cake. Following that day something seemed different. She then started the years following, known as the worst years of her life. Oskar had Octavia now living in their lower cellar, locked in at all times unless they opened it. She stayed down for a week before being let out the first time. This followed showering and dressing to the finest, in short clothing to show off her body. Once evening hit and the sun set she would be taken with her father for the “business†he was always telling them about. She arrived at a random house with her father and he escorted her inside. There was a man waiting for them inside. Her father and the man quietly discussed business and then returned to the adjoined room. Octavia’s father whispered to her, “You will do as he says or you will pay for this and so will your mother.†Her father left and she was alone with this man. He introduced himself as Lyn. (Obviously made up.) They made very small talk and then could feel the shift in body language. She would be slapped for tearing up over this new experience she was forced into. Once this was done Lyn clothed as Octavia slid her clothing on slowly. He told her, “Your father was right, You do have a body for money!†That is when Octavia knew she was in trouble from now until she could escape. Another year of this went on as Octavia slowly crept into a deep state of depression where her feelings dismissed everything. Then at her 14th birthday she was moved to a house that was full of other girls, chained like wild animals. All having similar things happening to them. After about a month of being kept here and picked up at night for “businessâ€, she met Lyla Berg. She found out that Lyla was just starting to deal with these issues and wanted to help her get out of this as soon as possible. They ended up becoming very close and one of Octavia’s only people she considered family. Lyla left with a man named Jan, but when together they started to come up with a plan on how to escape from all this. Both knowing they only had one chance to do so! They decided that Lyla would sneak the keys from Jan one night after Lyla had the backpack stashed. That night finally came and Lyla swiped the keys when Jan left for business. Every girl was freed that night and told to run, as far as they could run. Lyla and Octavia made sure everyone was out of the house before making their run for it. That was the only plan they had made. They grabbed the backpack with any money that Lyla was able to stash in the time they had and a few sets of clothes she snatched from the lost and found. Then off to the streets to lay low while figuring out their next move. They went from crack houses, behind dumpsters or park bushes! Regardless, it was better than before. Lyla always seemed to be the defender of Octavia and her. She fended off any men or anyone for that matter, that put them in potential danger. They came far together after just meeting in a terrible situation. In that they promised, once to the better side they would be together and there for each other no matter what, forever. Lyla had a year left of school to become a therapist and also they didn’t have quite enough money to go far. They decided to stick around while Lyla finished school and Octavia picked up random things to make cash. They knew as soon as Lyla was done with school they were leaving. Lyla finally graduated from University of Oslo at the age of 20, leaving Octavia at the age of 22. They didn’t attend the graduation in fear of their family seeing them. So they set off to not only leave Norway but to leave for the United States. They worked on getting their passports. Then ended up leaving shortly after Octavia turned 23. They were finally on their way to a new better life!
