Damian Garland was born in the Davis neighborhood in Southern Los Santos. He attended Davis High School, and grew up under his father, who before his death was a Postal Worker, and a mother who took care of Damian and his various brothers and sisters. The conditions weren't ideal, but Damian was a good student growing up through the available educational systems. A notable change occurred in Damian's life when his father passed away when Damian was 12. He collapsed at work, and because of a lack of funding and shortage of availability, an autopsy could not be performed for his father. His mother accepted a payment from the insurance companies, as doctors had declared his death natural causes, and therefore in order to continue to take care of her family, Damian's mother agreed to the terms of the insurance companies.

This lack of closure grew an obsession within Damian, and while he did finish school in Davis, his family moved for a short stint to the Midwest. While in the midwest, Damian reached out and performed two ride-alongs with the local county coroner's office, and attempted to learn as much as he could. While on ride-alongs with the coroners, a similar case piqued Damian's interest, in which a man, seemingly healthy and normal, collapsed at his job and was pronounced dead on scene by EMS personnel. Damian worked with the local coroner's office, well, more like observed, when they came on-site and did their investigation. They did determine the manner of death to be natural, and the body was collected for a future autopsy. Damian understood that the lack of resources in Los Santos attributed to him not being able to find closure, however, after being able to attend a scene on his own and finally understand that the autopsy was performed and the family did receive closure, he strengthened his interest and passion for being able to provide that to authorities and/or families of the deceased.
Damian's family moved back to Los Santos in 2022, and he took some time working a few random jobs, including fishing, to gather enough money to move out and get his own place and assets. Now that Damian has found somewhat of a foothold in the city, his interest lies with a career with the DMEC.
